Everyone has different Christmas traditions and different ways that they celebrate Christmas. This December I have interviewed three people that would like to share with you about their Christmas traditions. Katie Topp, Nicole Hanks, and Sadie Reid have all volunteered to speak about their traditional things that they do to celebrate this special holiday.
The first participant was Katie Topp, the question I asked her was, “What does christmas really mean to you?” Katie Topp responded with, “Christmas means to me spending time with family and giving back to my community but most of all celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.” The next volunteer was Nicole Hanks and she said, “Family is about what Christmas means to me.” Christmas is indeed about celebrating Jesus’ birth with the people you love most. Sadie Reid replied to the question with, “Spending time with family and friends is what Christmas means the most to me.” Spending time with amazing people that you love and care about on Christmas is the best way to celebrate. Everybody described perfectly about what christmas really meant to them.
Next I asked , “Do you have any Christmas traditions that you would like to share?”. Katie Topp responded with, “A Christmas tradition that I would like to share is that every year my mom and I bake sugar cookies using my grandma’s recipe.” A lot of people love making cookies to celebrate Christmas, and I think it is so special that Katie’s grandma passed down the recipe in order to continue the family tradition. Following that answer Nicole Hanks said, “A Christmas tradition that I do every year is go ice skating with my family.” I have noticed throughout the years that most families go ice skating every year and that is a truly special tradition to have with your family. Sadie Reid’s response was, “A tradition I do every year is make homemade food on Christmas.”
So many people have different types of food they make on Christmas, speaking about food, “Are there any types of traditional foods that your family makes for Christmas?”. Katie Topp Said, “ Some traditional food my family eats is steak, green bean casserole, and mashed potatoes.” So many people enjoy different types of food throughout the Christmas season and this type of food sounds delicious. Nicole answered the question by saying, “ Every year my family makes ham, sweet potato casserole, and bread rolls for Christmas.” Sadie followed up this question by saying, “When celebrating Christmas my family always makes homemade Tamales, beans, and rice.” Everything everyone has mentioned sounds delicious!
“Do you go to mass on Christmas eve, Christmas day, or both?” Both Sadie and Nicole responded to the question saying that they both attend mass on christmas eve. Katie Topp attends mass on christmas day.
Finally, “Do you have any fun ways you exchange gifts?” Katie Topp said, “ Every Christmas since I was little my dad and I would get eachother a book for christmas.” That is such a fun way to exchange gifts during the Christmas season. Nicole Said, “ On Christmas morning our family always starts with the kids, then the parents and finishes by opening our stockings.” Sadie ended the interview by saying, “ A fun way my family has exchanged gifts was white elephant.”
Those Christmas traditions are super special and nobody can take the magic out of the Christmas spirit.
