The girls varsity basketball team fought very hard this season. Even though we had some tough losses, everyone put all their effort in and we got as many points as we could. Everyone improved a lot this season whether it was shooting, ball handling, dribbling, rebounding or overall IQ on the court. I interviewed three people to get their opinion on this basketball season. I interviewed Sophia Magnan, Amelie Lancara, and Sophia Baca.

First, I asked them “What is your favorite part about playing basketball?” Sophia Magnan said, “My favorite part about basketball is being able to have fun with my teammates, while playing a sport I love. Then I asked Amelie and she said, “my favorite part about playing basketball is getting to bond with friends and doing a sport that is very fun and enjoyable.” Lastly I asked Sophia Baca and she replied with, “my favorite part about playing basketball is getting to play defense in games and at practice.

Secondly, I asked them, “What do you think you improved on most this season?” Sophia Magnan said, “I think this year I definitely improved on shooting from further distances as well as learning new dribbling moves and getting comfortable with dribbling more with my right hand.” then Amelie responded with, “I think I improved the most on my shooting form and better passing.” Lastly Sophia Baca replied by saying, “I think that I improved on my layups the most this season.”

Next, I asked them, “What do you do to prepare yourself before a game.” Sophia magnan said, “To prepare myself before the game I immediately go onto spotify and put on upbeat or music that I like to sing to, to get my spirits high. I also remember what I want to work on in the game and how I will play at my best. Then Amelie said “To prepare myself for a game, I usually picture how I will play and try to bring up my confidence level.” Then I asked Sophia Baca the same question and she said, “Drinking energy drinks prepares me for a game.”

Then, I asked them, “What was one thing that our team did great this season?” Sophia Magnan said, “One thing I think our team did great on was our defence, as we got into the other team’s faces and kept stealing the ball from them.” Amelie said, “One thing our team did great this season was, trying to stick to plays. Although doing our real planned plays on the court didn’t always work out, we all knew to pass and cut and worked together to get open.” Sophia Baca responded saying “Our team did a great job working together this season.”

Lastly I asked them, “What was your favorite highlight of the season.” Sophia Magnan said “My favorite highlight of the season was being able to learn and being able to bond with new teammates. I also enjoyed learning how to play in a tournament with no subs at one point and I loved how we were able to support each other and cheer each other on no matter the outcome of a game or just in general.” Amelie replied saying, “My favorite highlight of the season was when we played Sacred Heart. This is because when we play the team we have trouble against the most, I think we play and work together the best. It also brought out an opportunity to bond more with the team.” Lastly Sophia Baca said, “My favorite highlight of the season was improving a lot on my ball handling skills at practice and in games.”

Overall, the Varsity girls basketball team had a very fun season being able to play basketball with friends, improve on a bunch of different things, and being able to work together playing the sport we love.
