The varsity comp b team had a great season this year, but it wasn’t filled with much joy. This team was filled with only seventh graders and most feel that this year was a learning experience. And our coach says,” This year is supposed to be a learning experience, so that you guys are ready for next year.
A few people were asked how they would describe our season in one word and, well, it wasn’t the most surprising answer.
Some people, such as Landon, say this season was very ” inexperienced”.
While others, like Andrew Rowan, think the season was ” rough”.
And Jackson, who thinks it was“ catastrophic”.
So, for me, I would say this season is chaotic due to the fact that we had a lot of things we needed to improve on.
The first person to reply to me was Landon, and he thinks“ we could improve on rebounding and not get pressured so easily”.
Next was Jackson, and he thought we could have improved on” passing the ball and looking for more open passes.”
Finally, it was Andrew. He said the thing everyone could improve on as a team was,” everything.”
Enough of the bad stuff, let’s see if any of these players had a favorite game or moment this season. For me, I know I had a lot of fun playing against Maryhill and being able to play the entire game.
And I know Jackson agrees with me because he told me” He had the most fun in the game against Maryhill because we had 5 players, and it was fun to play the entire time.”
And me and Jackson were not the only two. Andrew also said that, “the Maryhill game, because we had 5 people and because he got a lot of playing time.”
But only one person had a different answer and that person was Landon. Landon’s favorite game was against “St Michels because it was thrilling to play again, and it was opening night.”
And each game had its own perks, but overall, each game wasn’t truly fun because we didn’t win. But don’t forget that there are still playoffs and hopes for winning. (Note from the editor: Unfortunately the team missed the playoffs).
There is one more thing I wanted to know about the season, and what I wanted to know was if Andrew, Jackson, or Landon ever thought there was a moment in a game where they thought the momentum shifted our way.
Landon believes a game where the momentum shifted in the teams’ way was “in the 4th quarter of our game against OLA when Finley had an and one.”
But for Jackson, it was when” we played St Mary’s, and we had a 10-0 run,” which sounds like really fun, especially because we did have perfect defense at that moment.
And finally it was Andrew, and he says it was in “St Mary’s game when everything started to click.”
So, overall, this season has been chaotic and more of a learning experience, but hopefully, next year we can actually win some games in the regular season and make the playoffs.
