Congratulations to all of the 8th graders for getting their acceptances into their picks of high schools. After all of the time we have spent together it has finally come to an end. Everyone is going down their own path. I interviewed three either graders who are all going to different high schools so you’ll understand each perspective. I first interviewed Avery Streeter who will attend Rio Americano, Samantha Mesesiha who will attend Christan Brothers and Emma Villegas who will attend Saint Francis. All of these high schools and the high schools not mentioned are all amazing choices. Therefore, you will get to read about three different perspectives.
I began the interviews with a quick question about what high school they got accepted into. Avery responded that she applied for Rio Americano’s Civitas program and Chrisitan Brothers; in which she got accepted into both. Samantha responded that she applied for Christian brothers and she got accepted into Christian Brothers. Last, Emma responded with that she applied for Christian Brothers and Saint Francis and she got accepted into both.
The second question I asked was why they are going to the high school they chose. Avery first responded with that she really liked the school when she toured it and that she has multiple close friends who will be attending Rio. She also stated that she will have many more opportunities there including their Civitas program. If you are interested in joining the Civitas program that is a curriculum that includes state and local government, political science, AP classes and many more opportunities to learn. The next interview Samantha responded that her sister already attends Christian Brothers and how she wanted to keep her relationship close with God by attending a great Catholic school that is diverse. To end the second question Emma responds with how she really enjoys the sisterhood of Saint Francis and how connected each girl is. The last thing she stated was how it is a space for her to be herself and to meet new people.
The third question I asked all had similar answers which was “What are you most excited about going to high school?” Avery said she’s excited to meet new people and to represent her school through sports. The second response I got was from Samantha and she said she’s excited to meet new people, getting out of middle school and trying new things such as extracurriculars. Concluding, Emma said she is most excited to meet new people and find girls who share the same interests with her.
The fourth question I asked was if they are doing any extracurriculars. Avery said she is going to try out for cheerleading and softball. She also wants to do mock trials and multiple other honor classes. Samantha said she wants to try out for cheerleading. She is also thinking about maybe trying out for lacrosse. Emma said she wants to try out for tennis and run for student council. She also said that she wants to be a part of mock trials and be an ambassador. To sum it up, highschool is the best way to try out new sports and hobbies.
For the last question I asked why they think their high school is the best to go to. Avery says that it is a really good public school with a great environment and community. Also that she gets many opportunities and how amazing the teachers are. Samantha said that the community is a great place. Also how nice the campus and teachers are, she thinks that it’ll fit her best. Last, Emma said how amazing the sisterhood is there and how inclusive the community is. In all, these high schools are great and make sure you pick a high school that is best for you.
