Mrs. Vallejo has been making food for us ever since fifth grade. I decided to see if over the almost three years of her serving food for us, we would form any opinions about the food. I asked my fellow 7th graders this same question.

For their opinions, I asked Mason, Howard, and Jackson 5 questions about Mrs. Vallejo’s food. For the first question, I asked them what they would like Mrs. Vallejo to make for hot lunch. Howard said that he would love to see wagyu (who doesn’t?), and when I asked him why, he simply shrugged and said, “Do I have to say more?” When I asked Mason this question, he requested better pizza on Wednesdays because, “The ones she buys aren’t good.” And, again like Howard, Jackson wanted to see A5 Kobe wagyu beef (very specific).

The second question I asked them is what is your favorite lunch that she makes and why? When confronted with this question, Jackson replied “My favorite dish is the ham and cheese croissant. It’s juicy, crispy and full of flavor” Mason’s answer was the Orange chicken due to it being “The best because it is good and barely comes around, it is the best.” And, even though it is simpler, Howard’s reason for why the calzones are the best is, they are “Mega-bussin.”

The next question asked was what food they wanted to see more often. Both Jackson and Howard wanted to see the Calzone more often, however, with different explanations. Howard’s was, “They are the best food that she (Mrs. Vallejo) makes.” Jackson said, “I would really like to see the calzone more often, but all her meals are delicious.” Mason however, basically repeated what he said in an earlier question to support his love for the orange chicken she makes. This is what he said: “Because it is the best that she makes and is very good.”

Then, I asked them what they would want to see in snack shack too. Howard wants more hot chocolate, because “It is very good.” and Mason would like more healthy fruits “Like the ones we get at lunch.” However, Jackson said “I don’t really eat at the snack bar, but I mean, I guess more breakfast items.”

The fifth, and final question I asked them was: would you wish she didn’t make something for lunch? Mason doesn’t like the enchiladas, because of “Too much sauce,” but being the humble man he is, continues, “but that is my opinion.” Howard, a little less polite, explained that the “Bacon mac and cheese is for ops.” Jackson, with the last response, says that, “Honestly like I said all her meals are delicious but the chowmein is my least favorite.”

In the end, I think that Mrs. Vallejo’s cooking has been an all around improvement for the better in Holy Spirit’s own culinary library. There are tons of different dishes that she makes ranging from tacos, to burgers, all the way to grilled cheeses. I think that I can speak for almost the entire school, when saying that Mrs Vallejo’s cooking could really really be some of the best in the past few years.
