This reviewer was interested in The Minecraft Movie for a few reasons.  First, I like playing Minecraft, second the opening weekend for The Minecraft Movie made 162 million dollars, even surpassing the Super Mario Bros movie which held the previous record, and third because I had seen that it got some bad reviews.  I went to see the movie with my brother JT who plays Minecraft and my Grandfather who knows nothing about Minecraft. In addition to JT and Grandpa, I also interviewed Christian and Landon to see what they thought of the movie.   

First the bad.  The movie was very confusing to my grandpa because he did not play the game.  Things like famous Minecraft characters like the Chicken Jockey were confusing.  He was also confused why everything was square.

This was a problem because even though this movie is targeted at younger people a lot of older people still went to this movie.  For example, just like me a lot of grandparents and parents went to the movies with a child or grandchild. Another negative thing about the movie is that I think that a lot of people only went because of the memes and not the actual storyline itself.

What did my friends and brother think about the movie?  Two out of the three people that I interviewed said that the plot was very boring while only one said that the plot was not boring.  Another thing is that a lot of people think that the movie had some very generic acting and even Jack Black and Jason Momoa were criticized because of this. I also think that this movie lacked potential and think it could have been so much better.

Now for why I did like this movie. First of all the use of CGI and animation for all of the animals and villagers was absolutely unforgettable. It made everything look so real. The plot may have been basic at times, but was also really interesting. For example when Garret swooped in on the Ghast and saved Henry or when the villager started talking and even married someone in the real world. The memes from the movie trailer became very popular.  People at the movie would throw popcorn and soda when the memes played.   Even though these memes have made the movie theaters have to clean up popcorn and soda these theaters and movie producers still made a lot of money.   It was the highest grossing movie of 2025 even in the opening weekend it made a ton of money.  Now I will talk about how the plot was not just good but  great.  It was adventurous and the Lava Chicken song was a good song and the contraption in the movie was just like the minecraft game.  If I were to load a world into minecraft I could make the exact replica of the contraption pretty easily.

Now for what my friends thought about the movie.  Everybody I interviewed all gave this movie an 8 out of 10 or higher and even though some of them said the plot was basic they still rated it very high. And I think because of everything I wrote about this movie that this movie is definitely worth watching.  THE END
